Migrate from Equinix Metal to Latitude.sh

By The ServerSearcher Team • Updated May 2026

Equinix Metal reaches end-of-life on June 30, 2026. If you relied on Packet-style API bare metal, Latitude.sh is the closest fit among providers we track: REST API, CLI, Terraform, hourly billing, and a global footprint.

Why Latitude.sh for Equinix refugees

Equinix Metal grew out of Packet's developer-centric bare metal model. Teams that chose Metal for programmatic provisioning, not traditional colo contracts, usually need the same things in a replacement: a real API, IaC support, and predictable deploy times.

Latitude.sh targets that profile. You get bare metal and GPU instances across the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and more—with hourly and monthly billing. Latitude joined Megaport in late 2025; public APIs and billing workflows are unchanged at the time of writing, but factor vendor ownership into procurement if that matters to your org.

API & Automation

Public REST API, CLI, Terraform provider, and client libraries for common languages

Latitude.sh is known for its developer-friendly API, Terraform provider, and CLI, enabling rapid deployment and infrastructure as code practices.

Migration checklist

  1. Inventory workloads: Export Metal device types, regions, OS images, and any custom iPXE or cloud-init flows you depend on.
  2. Map regions: Match Equinix metros to Latitude locations (e.g. NYC, Ashburn, Frankfurt, São Paulo). Use Latitude plans by city on ServerSearcher.
  3. Port automation:Rewrite Terraform or scripts against Latitude's API and provider docs; run parallel deploys before cutover.
  4. Benchmark: Provision comparable CPU/RAM/disk in staging; compare network path and disk I/O to Metal baselines.
  5. Migrate data: Use rsync, object storage, or DB replication—same patterns as any bare metal move.
  6. Cut over: Lower DNS TTLs, shift traffic, and decommission Metal before June 2026.

Activate the $200 new-user credit when you open a new Latitude account (issued after first payment per provider terms).

Terraform and API next steps

Latitude publishes a Terraform provider and REST API documentation on their site. A practical migration path: stand up one server per critical region via API, import networking and firewall rules into your existing modules, then scale fleet size once health checks pass.

On ServerSearcher, every Latitude plan links to checkout with tracking applied server-side—use the provider page for comparisons and /go/provider/latitudesh/?checkout=1 when you are ready to purchase.
